Is the Philippines technologically updated?

Technology is defined as the application of scientific knowledge to practical purposes. In short, we may call it applied science. When people say “technological innovations”, we usually think of tools, gadgets or machines that help us do our work faster and easier to produce results in the shortest possible time. The things we enjoy today that made our lives more convenient, were not enjoyed by people many years ago. Indeed, technology has tremendously changed the lives of the people around the world.

As time progresses and technology advances, we have seen the changes and evolution of the different inventions from the earliest computing device, the Abacus, to the latest model of smartphones and tablet computers that we are using today. In developed countries such as the United States of America, Japan and South Korea, their technology is far more advanced compared to our country, the Philippines. They are considered to be the leaders in the production of modern technology.

The Philippines, being a small country, may not be on par with these advanced countries due to lack of resources, but we have people with the same expertise and experience in the field of science and technology. Although the Philippines is still in the process of updating the country’s technological development in education, health services and telecommunications, we have made achievements in agriculture and fishery. I hope that in the near future, our country will have its own technological innovations and be able to compete with other developed countries.
